The Story Behind The Print

I find that there is a timeless quality to this image of The Circus and Royal Crescent in Bath covered by a blanket of snow. The modernities of the city are masked by the snow, you notice the cars less and it is as if time is standing still. I’ll never forget the morning I woke up and looked out of the window at the most beautiful scene. I had, luckily, planned for this moment and my drone batteries were fully charged and I had a take-off agreement with a private landowner sorted ahead of time, enabling me to be one of first to capture and share this beautiful scene on instagram.

Printing

All my prints are printed to silver-based digital C-type Fuji archival photographic paper in matt finish to preserve the beauty of the photograph.

C-Type photo paper is really versatile as it is coated with a slightly stippled texture which I find not only gives a very natural finish with subtle colours, but also continuous tone - meaning the paper can produce subtle colour gradients, shadow detail and an almost 3-dimensional photographic feel.

I'm a photographer, filmmaker and CAA-approved drone operator. And, as director of Matchbox Film Co, I have been granted special permissions from the CAA for operations in congested areas - something that permits me to create unique imagery in the hearts of our cities.
